报告摘要:
Most LNG to East Asia was traded under oil indexed contracts despite LNG arrives to East Asian region from various countries of origin. The current price mechanisms faces a few major criticisms, such as failure to reflect East Asia’s own market fundamentals and the “Asia Premium”.  Because of the benefits and opportunities to create trading hubs, many East Asian countries have planned to create its own regional gas trading hubs that can generate prices based on gas-to-gas competition reflecting the region’s own supply and demand fundamentals. Given the significance of East Asia in the World’s LNG market, a change of pricing mechanisms, if succeeded, will have profound impact on the international gas market. This presentation will address the following issues: pricing of gas and LNG trade in East Asia and the region’s emerging competition for gas/LNG trading hubs and hub-based benchmark pricings; illustrative impact of alternative benchmark pricings on gas and LNG trade in East Aisa; and the potential roles of regional collaboration and cooperation.
